Unless you hide away from all sources of media, you must have heard about Irene. Maybe it's because I took geography, that I actually pay more attention to these types of things in the world. It's probably the actual reason.
Hurricanes aren't new to the world, but I've realized the only ones that usually get the headlines are always the one affecting North America – in particular the southernly country. There isn't much coverage on stuff that occurs half way around the world and happens more often. Yes, we can all agree that there is a greater monetary loss. That doesn't make it less of a deal when it happens elsewhere.
I guess what I'm really trying to get at is the fact that too many things revolve around the one country. The one country that boastfully declares many many things. Again, I apologize for the bias that has set in. I just don't think that its fair for those who are not the one to not get any coverage.
Set back in reality though, life is simply unfair.
